{Comfort through Grace}

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17




Grace: from the Greek word Charis

Definition
-grace
-that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech
-good will, loving-kindness, favour
-of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues
-what is due to grace
-the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace
-the token or proof of grace, benefit
-a gift of grace
-benefit, bounty
-thanks, (for benefits, services, favours), recompense, reward

Comfort

-exhortation, admonition, encouragement
-consolation, comfort, solace; that which affords comfort or refreshment
-thus of the Messianic salvation (so the Rabbis call the Messiah the consoler, the comforter)
-persuasive discourse, stirring address
-instructive, admonitory, conciliatory, powerful hortatory discourse

Beautiful, Megan!! You gave me an idea. My daughter's name is Grace and we're brainstorming ways to update her room. I am going to see what she thinks about a small mural or painting that has her name on it with the meaning. I think that would add some special cheer to her room.

Megan, I meant to say in my previous comment how sorry I was to hear about your pastor. It is so hard to lose someone we care about, especially when we're close to their family because it also hurts to watch them suffer through their loss. I hope in the days ahead that the Lord would comfort each of you, just as He knows how.
